I don't know what to say. It's an aweful awful list... Gadget will dominate the OCG again. Franken OTK is still open and playable, they've locked up fast trap and flip effect usage and done nothing to CyDra whore decks...

I wouldn't say it's all that awful. They weakened the gadgets' compensation for blood otk, along with chimeratech otk, along with giving us more vortexes to handle their swarming power. They certainly hindered franken by semi-ing hurricane and limiting emissary of oblit, whilst still keeping the average deck's f/d removal ability by giving them another initiate. Overall pretty good list, really.

EDIT: It occurs to me that franken in the OCG still has shield crush. Ouch for you guys >.<

This list is terrible. It hasn't weakened Gadgets at all. Sure it's kicked down a OTK, but that's never been needed or really used in a Gadget deck. Gadget control far out performs Gadget rush. The only reason they wern't touched is because of the new struture deck.

Hurricane has never been used in more then 2 anyway and they stiill left Tempest. So M/T removal hasn't had anything done to it.

Devil Franken pretty much isn't used in OCG. It's only got a little buzz around it because of moronic TCGers splashing it in there shitty Chaos decks. You'll probably see it splashed into Undead/Phoenix decks soon or whatever the TCG meta turns into.

I knew Baboon was getting the chop, but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth because it wasn't easy getting hold of 3. I'm also sad about the lose of Tsuki.. but on the other hand Destruction Ring is back, which should be fun.

Just the OCG one is official, there's always the chance TCG wont be the same. Even if it is though, I'm holding onto my CCV, it's not broken enough to stay banned, besides, mine only cost me the price of a GS1 pack

Loving that Lightsworn hasn't been touched, means I don't have to bother learning to play anything else for another 6 month

I am not a big fan of this list like, so much for Konami doing something amazing with it. Breaker at 3 won't work out and CCV will come back once everyone has a nasty Turbo Pack version.
DDWL at 3 is something I have suggested every list for ages though (y)

I hate to tell you this, but even when the Turbo Pack comes out, CCV will be far easier to get in Japan than it will be able to get in the States. Furthermore, the Turbo Pack is only supposed to be available to tournament winners. Sure, dealers will sell it to anyone if they think they can get away with it, but Konami will not take CCV off the list to accomadate any TCG players who got it due to unauthorized sales.

Also, the only difference that the TCG list has ever had from the OCG list is that the TCG list doesn't include cards that don't exist in the TCG. Other than that, the two lists are always the same.

HL, TIV is just too powerful. It's like a Lightning Vortex that can attack, which can be used multiple times.

I hate to tell you this, but this card that you love so much is broken.

Shut yer face Dark Sage TwT I can dream, can't I? I've seen broken-er (Not a word) and you need to discard to activate it, yes, putting one at a disadvantage. And you need to draw it to use it first, and its attack points and defence points are no great sake either. Yu-gi-oh is kind of a broken game if you think about it...Haha ^_^ Throwing the strongest at one another, irrigardless of fair play *dreamy face*

I'd be cool with Limited, three is too many. I wouldn't even put three in my deck if I was allowed too... The day I got it, it came out on the ban list ._. That, and Cyber freakin' jar. Tramatizing.

Cyber Jar is even more broken. It was banned because it can be used in a Mill Deck that allows the user to force his opponent to draw every card in his deck in one turn. This strategy didn't give the opponent a chance.

It was incredibly broken. Don't ever dream of it coming back.

Figured I'd give my thoughts on the list as we currently know it:

New Forbidden:

Goyo Guardian - This is the surprise for me. I personally have not seen him in action as often as before, with cards like Brionac and Armed Wing taking up the spotlight. Six Sams can abuse him, certainly, but I think it could have been left alone.

Mass Driver - ...And thus the threat of the FrogTK is finally killed off. I don't get why this wasn't banned at the same time as Substitoad...

Cold Wave - Absolutely, positively NOT a shocker. Far too many times have the ends to duels started with this top-deck. On the flip side, now this has become the era of backrows. Now where are my Jinzos...

New Limited:

Honest - At 3, this was beast, especially where Lightsworns were concerned. At 2, it was a viable threat to anyone attempting to attack a Light creature. At 1, there is still that element of caution. Am I sad this was limited? Can't say I am.

Dandylion - *sarcastically* Ooh, Plants lose a minor fraction of their engine to get out Caius and Formula Synchron. Oh well, they still have the other copy they can keep sending back to the deck with Avarice. The deck is weakened slightly, but not enough to be considered crippled. I'd like to have seen this banned, but you can't always get what you want...

Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow - Being a former Blackwing player, I'm disappointed that this was dropped to 1. I could understand if they hit Blizzard, but Kalut?

Book of Moon - ...And pretty much every player loses 2 staple cards. I rarely see a deck that doesn't run 3 of this, and for good reason. Now we'll have to find replacements to accompany this single copy. I see the prices for Forbidden Lance skyrocketing...

Gateway of the Six - Like Cold Wave, this is not a surprise. Considering close to half of the top 32 decks at YCS Dallas was Six Sams, you know something had to be done. I applaud Konami for thinking ahead and stalling the ridiculously fast swarming engine the deck possesses. It's a step in the right direction, but this is merely a dent in their armor. The TCG list had better cripple them a little more - otherwise we all know what the dominant deck will be for the next six months...

New Semi-Limited:

Card Trooper - Will Troop-Dupe-Scoop make a comeback? Unless you know the opponent is running the card as well, I don't think so. It certainly isn't as good as it was when Konami wised up and limited this guy back in the day.

Archlord Kristya - With the Fairy structure deck coming out this summer, I see an upsurge of the deck. It still doesn't tell us if we'll be getting Krystia in it, though. Considering its ability, I can understand why they don't want us to be running 3 of it.

Spirit Reaper - I have mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand, people gain an extra stalling card. On the other hand, there are plenty of ways for almost every player to get rid of it. A fair trade-off, I suppose.

Debris Dragon - Personally, I would've preferred to see this limited. Your target will almost always be Dandylion, meaning you get Black Rose to blow up the field, then you can use Avarice to send both cards back, since you'll have more than 5 monsters in the grave at this point. Debris Plants will still be a force to be reckoned with this format.

Royal Tribute - And to think the value on this card jumped up after GK Recruiter came on the scene. The main reason GKs won that YCS was because no one was expecting it. This card can be devastating if used at a crucial moment, and dropping it to 2 is by no means a crippling blow. GKs are going to stick around for a while.

Overload Fusion - Let's face it, Chimeratech OTK was beastly, but nowadays it isn't as big a threat. Without Cyber Stein backing it up in the form of getting out Cyber End Dragon, Machines need more than a second Overload Fusion to climb back into the truly competitive brackets.

Megamorph - I can see this making an impact, especially in decks that are built around having fewer Life Points, simply waiting for the right moment to pounce with a monster that's had it attack power multiplied by 4. Unless the opponent can stop it, can you say......GG?

Solemn Warning - Can't exactly say I'm surprised. It's become a staple card for most decks. However, considering its high cost, I can't recall seeing a deck that runs more than two of this, anyway. I don't think making 2 mandatory will make too much of a difference.
Icarus Attack

New Unrestricted:

Chaos Sorcerer - I bet you Llymic of Sage's 'Soul of Silicon' would be happy to know that his avatar is finally unrestricted after all this time. Does this mean we'll see Chaos decks return en-mass? I can't say for certain. There are quite a few decks that can utilize him, but 3 copies seems a bit overkill unless a dedicated build is introduced. He'll certainly be a threat, though.

Demise, King of Armageddon - Doomise OTK...I shudder at the thought - not because I've lost to it on more than one occasion, but because there's the possibility of it coming back. Advanced Ritual Art may still be at 1, but the odds of having/getting what you need in your opening hand to pull off the combo has jumped up. Only time will tell if people go back to this card...

Snipe Hunter - I can see why this guy was limited back then. It was the time when Chaos reigned supreme, and discards were all the rage. That isn't as big a case in the current gaming environment, so I can see why restrictions have been lifted. I don't see people rushing to run 3 of this when there are plenty of better options.

Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier - This doesn't truly matter to me. Brionac and Gugnir trump it in pretty much every category, so maxing out the Tiger isn't going to make it groundbreaking.

Gold Sarcophagus - This one concerns me. I can see a lot of decks utilizing multiple copies of this to ensure they'll have exactly what they need within a few turns. Giving them 3 near-guaranteed cards is never a good thing...

Skill Drain - considering that 99% of monsters in the dueling environment right now are effect monsters, I can see this as a viable counter. It won't totally stop the truly beastly decks in their tracks, with all the S/T removal that's maindecked most of the time, but if the opportunity to temporarily slow them down is available, it must be noted.

Ultimate Offering - anything that you can summon and search with is thanking their lucky stars right now. Machina Gadgets will have a field day, while Sams will simply fill the field and dominate even further. Lord help us...

Actually, Mario, Goyo Guardian was probably outlawed because Exceed Summons, the new game mechanic that is coming out, would become too easy if it were allowed. A card that lets you permanently steal a Monster makes Exceeds easier to do, and the Exceeds we've seen so far are pretty powerful on their own.

I have more news, and it may explain both Chaos Sorcerer and Demise.

Due to Konami reversing a long-standing ruling, the priority rule for Monster with Ignition Effects is void as of March 18th.

In other words, if Bottomless Trap Hole or Compusory Evacuation Device is used when a Monster like Demise or Chaos Sorcerer is summoned, it does NOT get priority and does NOT get to use its effect. It is removed from the field before the effect can occur. Starting March 18th.

My personal opinion. Could be better, could be worse. I'm glad that they finally prohibited a Trap Card that I have signed about twenty petitions for its banning. I hate that card more than any other.

Unfortunately, Sage, the list is legit.

And in all honestly, the game is screwed.

Not only did this list kill off the best Synchro Summoning had to offer (though people have been calling for the semi-limiting of Tengu for ages), it did absolutely nothing to slow down the momentum of Dino-Rabbit (derr Rabbit into Laggia w/ Warning and Solemn in the backrow), Inzektors (hurr durr spam Dragonfly and Hornet while spamming the field), or Wind-Ups (herp derp perform the loop, rape the opponent's hand, and laugh all the while).

Unless the TCG list does something about this, it's going to be a 3-deck format for the next six months, if not longer. Either you play one of the three or load your main deck with all kinds of counters for the three, or there is absolutely no chance of winning anything significant.

Konami, the greedy b@ast@rds who aim to profit from this, ought to be ashamed of themselves. I've seen bad lists over the years (including the changes made last year), but this one takes the cake. If this doesn't cause a massive exodus from the game, I'm not sure what will.

I play a mean Fairy deck - and having said that, I think it's overkill for them to bump Marshmallon to semi-limited. Suddenly you've got two indestructible cannon fodders that can nick a quarter of your opponent's starting LP? Too powerful. At least they were wise about Mystery - Earth and restricted it ASAP.

I participated in a local double-elimination tournament today and was thrilled to see 1) the number of attendees and 2) the variety in the decks they all played. Not only were there Warriors and Dragons, there were two Exodia decks (one of which I built for a friend), Fairies, Psychics, Karakuris, Six Samurai, even an homage to Yusei Fudo's deck from 5D's. In a couple of side duels, I also showcased my N-Spacian / Neos deck. All in all, a remarkable experience and made several new friends.

Contrary to mario's hypothesis, I don't think this game is going anywhere. The new ban list had virtually no effect on any deck in competition this evening, and while it was just a local shindig, I much prefer it to "official" tournaments. There was a camaraderie that I think is lost at do-or-die competitions.

I personally don't know how people can afford the three deck types that Mario mentioned.

For the Wind-Up Loop to work, you need three Tour Guides. My online store has their price listed for $150, and they're always out of stock. Even if they did have three in stock, I would be, with S&H, spending an entire paycheck for three cards if I chose to buy them. It would be ludicrous.

My game store offers them as the first prize for some tournaments, but not all. To get three Tour Guides that way, you'd need to win three Tournaments.

Then you'd also need three copies of Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity, which is another incredibly rare and expensive card.

Like you said, Matt, not everyone is packing these three decks. They aren't the easiest to buld.
