Pokémon Gray Domain Name Registered

According to Nintendo Buzz via IGN, the domain pokemongray.com has recently been registered through the same company that Nintendo registered pokemonblackandwhite.com through.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean much. Nintendo has been known to set up dummy domains in the past, such as the infamous pokemonwhitegold.com in order to throw off fans. IGN has stated in their post that they'll look into this. We'll let you know of any more info as it becomes known.

UPDATE:
There's a possibility that the domain wasn't registered by Nintendo at all. The domain is registered under a single person, rather than Nintendo of America, and the address given is for a stripmall in Kerrville, Texas. Whether this is Nintendo trying to obscure registration information, or someone who registered the domain hoping to sell it to Nintendo, remains to be seen.

This Internet address is being managed by Melbourne IT DBS for one of the world's top brands. At the present time there is no active Web Site for the address. It may be under construction, or the owner may have reserved the address for future needs.

Do you think Melbourne IT DBS just bought the domain and then cyber-squatted (I know it's a silly name but that's... what it's called) before selling it to Nintendo?

It's a domain name registration company. So whoever registered the name (Nintendo, presumably), did it through them, and just hasn't started actually using it yet.

Ah, I see. Nevertheless that's pretty interesting. I wonder if a game called "Pokemon Gray" would've generated as much hype 13-14 years ago, before it became such a huge franchise.

I'm gonna call shenanigans on this one. In the past, the Pokémon websites have all been registered by NoA, including pokemonblackwhite.com. However, this one is registered to a single woman (not a company) in Texas:

Edit: Not sure if it means much though. To me, it just means that someone either registered it with the hope of selling it to Nintendo, or Nintendo intentionally obscured the registration information.

It's the former, most definitely. If Nintendo wanted to hide something from us, they would've just not purchased the domain at all. It's not like they can't register another similar one (like pokemon-gray.com) when they're ready to.
