Eligible competitors can earn their places in the Region Qualifiers through qualifying events. To participate in these events, players MUST have a Pokémon Trainer Club account and have a Player ID by January 18 at 10:00 a.m. PST. Pokémon TCG players also need to have logged in to the Pokémon TCG Online with a Player ID attached to their PTC account between October 18 and January 18 to participate.

So exciting! I don't think I'm I a Smogon type Pokemon strategist but I'm considering to participate just for the heck of it. I wonder if this is USA only.

It's definitely not USA only, though I'm not gonna participate in this tournament, since despite the fact I have a Nintendo Switch now, I don't have Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, nor am I into any of the other stuff in the tournament.

To answer your question Mikachu, these countries can all participate:

North America: Canada, United States of America (including Puerto Rico)

Europe: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Ireland, Italy, Jersey, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Latin America**: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay

Oceania: Australia, New Zealand

**- these countries can't participate in the Pokkén Tournament DX event (Gabi, if you have Pokkén Tournament DX, you won't be able to participate in that particular event, sorry), but can participate in the other events.

Yeah, I'm unsure about this. It depends also on if I'll get Pokken Tournament DX in time and I also have to figure out what I'm going to do with my Nintendo Accounts.

as much as I like the TCG playing online means getting code cards and trading them
I did this for a while. But it can take 100+ codes to get a decent deck going. (assuming you trade not open)
