STAB-LESS TOURNAMENT

I promised you another tournament, didn't I? Well, here we go:

Each participant will sign up with a team of three pokemon that must be the same type. However, once a participant has chosen a type -- no other participant can use that type for the duration of the tournament. Dual-types can be entered, but only one of the types will be restricted. So if I were to sign up with Empoleon and Gyarados, no one else would be able to claim the Water-typing, but Steel and Flying would be okay to use.

During this tournament, your pokemon can use every type of attack except for that of their own typing (non-damaging moves excluded). Let's go back to my Empoleon/Gyarados example. That means Empoleon couldn't use Surf, Hydro Pump, or Steel Wing, but Aqua Ring is okay.

Matches will all be 1 on 1, except for the finals, which will remain secret.

Each battle will take place on a field with a specific type aligned to it. This type is generated randomly, and will affect the pokemon differently. Let's say the generated field is a bug one -- all Bug-type attacks will receive a power boost (just a +2 to Atk or SpA), while all Bug-type pokemon will receive a defense boost (similar to the attacks).

I will keep registration open either until April 8th or all the possible types are called -- whichever comes first.

As well, like the last tournament, this one will have an entry fee of 5 points, and each ref will earn double points for each battle!

You misunderstand, Os. Your own pokemon can't use any STAB moves (which goes double for dual-types), but you only claim one type of pokemon during the tournament. So even though Ayeun's using Flygon for the tournament because of Dragon-typing, it doesn't mean that someone else can't use Ground-types.

Yeah have to agree with Oslo in that your rules were kinda cluster-fecked on that. Because the way it read was. For dual types, only the Type you enter the tournament in with would be banned, the other half wouldn't be.

So let me get this straight, your own team cannot use moves of their own type and you yourself cannot use moves that others have chosen as their type?

Your pokemon can use any move that it doesn't get STAB on. Non-damaging moves are useable no matter what though.

Wait, so let me get clarification. Your own Pokemon can't get STAB from other people's non-STAB moves but you can only enter Pokemon that get STAB from the same secondary type as you chose to enter with, right?

As for why charging-because most people now have bank accounts that necessitate there being a need to charge. If everyone just suddenly has money for everything, there is no challenge and no drive to keep competing. There will be free ones interspersed here and there, but not every one of them will be free.

Uhhh guess I should enter huh? Oh and yeah better clarification, basically we're going the restricting type route again.

I'm not too worried about DL just because of his Pogeys' typing. As long as you pick a Pokemon that has a couple of decent Fighting-type moves then it doesn't matter what kind of godly type coverage his team has. The real reason why I'm worried about DL is because he's friggin' awesome and we've all been super lucky that he hasn't entered any of the other tournaments this year.

As long as you have one strong move that can do super effective damage against DL's Pokemon then it doesn't matter if he has fifty strong moves that can do super effective damage against yours. Barring situations like Amnesia or whatever, you just need the one and then you should theoretically be able to hold your own against him.

Be worried about his Pokemon's ridiculously awesome support (ie. Status) moves if anything...

Normal pokemon have always been powerhouses in ASB because of their amazing movepools, but they're still beatable. It just means the victory will be all the sweeter when you take him down.
