Shinsuke Volcano
This volcanic island - previously hidden away can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying pokémon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall pagoda stands on the island as well, the only man-made structure here.

Round ONE FIFTY-EIGHT
With Groudon in your sights, you and your entire squad get off of Moonscape, giving her a much needed break. You approach the large groundling humbly, and offer your challenge.

GROUDON "You wish to capture me, is that correct, Trainer? I suppose I wouldn't mind being trained. But you must best me in battle first, and only on my terms. If you can do so, then I will accept."

Before you can even say yes or no, Groudon summons something you've never seen before--



--and uses it to change himself. As you witness the transformation, the skies become cloudless and the air around you becomes nigh un-breathable. It's a difficult thing to adjust to.

Hashmal, toss them all off-balance with a series of Earthquakes! Focus most of the power on the Luxray! Atlas and Toxicroak, assist Hashmal with your own Earthquakes as well!

Airship, Ca and Delibird, focus fire on the Serperior! Ca and Airship should use repeated Acrobatics and Air Slashes while Delibird can fire off some Ice Beams to put her on ice.

Sliggoo, Dewott and Flaafy can take care of the Infernape. Sliggoo, continuously use Muddy Water and Dewott can take him head on with repeated Hydro Pumps. Flaafy, slow him down a bit with a Thunder Wave and then some Thunderbolts.

You send Esquire to the fray, who immediately transforms into an identical copy of Groudon -- primal form and all -- but the real one seems to want to prove that he's definitely without equal. As Esquire gets used to his new form and increases his attack power, Groudon wastes no time and strikes him with his signature move -- Precipice Blades -- knocking Esquire to the ground. The best roars a mighty roar before striking Esquire again with a quick, one-two Powerup Punch.

Esquire shakes it off and retaliates with two powerful Precipice Blades of his own, knocking Groudon off-guard.

You bark out your orders as your squad takes down the three remaining pokémon easily. As the other pokémon slowly make their way to your side of the plateau, you see the main door open up, giving you access! Excellent work, Maynard!

As you and the team retreat to the inside, Maynard seals the doors shut once more before getting blasted with a series of nasty Sludge Bombs! Oh no! Maynard hits the wall harshly, knocking him out of the mission entirely.

You turn to face the attacker--



They appear to be guarding one of the doors from Fairy-types.

Round ONE NINETEEN
As paralysis strikens both opposing pokémon, Boom and Raff take turns trading blows. Raff drains health from Skrelp as Boom nails Shellder with a Thunder Punch before switching dance partners. The two water pokémon cry out in pain as you grip a pair of Ultra Balls and throw them! They connect and suck the pokémon inside swiftly before locking into place.

Solaris Phase 2 - Sonic the Hedgehog

With more strength on his side, Groudon stamps the ground, creating a dangerous quake that nearly causes Esquire to collapse. Fortunately for the non-battlers, Ground-type attacks can't hit them while they're in the air (Chelle's riding Moonscape while Brando's gripping tightly onto the bug ninja). As Esquire pulls himself back together, Groudon checks him with a nasty Double-Edge/Body Slam combo! Fortunately, paralysis doesn't happen.

Esquire takes several moments to gather himself before responding with a poisonous bite. The toxic sludge slaps across Groudon's frame and slowly drains away the legendary pokémon's health as Esquire rises in strength. Finally, another Earthquake bookends the round, leaving Groudon in quite a bit of pain.

Esquire steps back to the sidelines before transforming back to his Ditto-self. Brando steps up to the plate, taking along Esquire's bonuses along the way. With an aura of confidence, Brando shoots high into the air before divebombing Groudon with a surge of aerial energy. The dark bird crashes into the legendary pokémon, dealing harsh damage to both sides before Groudon snatches the bird out of the air...

...and smashes him to the ground with Smack Down. Brando becomes nearly immobilzed by the continent pokémon's power. Unable to move away, Brando is powerless as Groudon strikes with another pair of Precipice Blades. Ouch!

Hashmal and Lawrence (the Toxiroak) take on the left side of the double doors as Atlas quad-handedly grabs the other. Within less than a minutes, the door is open enough to get the rest of your squad in. However, before the three of them can follow suit, the doors slam shut, leaving them on the wrong side of the door.

You hear a muffled sound coming from the other side,

LAWRENCE "Keep going, we'll hold things down here."

Beyond the door, you see a hall littered with Dragon-type pokémon, felled by the the fury of Zed (it would appear).

With the Super Rod in your inventory, you decide that a fishing endeavor is the best endeavor. You recall the two pokémon who've already battled and climb aboard Buzzer, who immediately bolts off the docks and further above the ocean blue. After flying a nice distance away from shore, Buzzer stoicly hovers over the water calmly enough for you to cast your line.

You patiently wait several moments for something to happen when finally something tugs at your line! Huzzah!

Brando retreats to Team Oslo, tagging out Moonscape. Groudon, tired of the fooling around, summons a Block barrier to surround the both of them -- no one's leaving the battle now. With your legendary pokémon trapped in battle, Groudon slashes at her with a pair of Fury Cutters.

Moonscape barely even flinches at the hits before borrowing Brando's boosts and slashing Groudon with a Psycho Cut! The attack does wonderful damage!

Shinsuke Volcano
This volcanic island - previously hidden away can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying pokémon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall pagoda stands on the island as well, the only man-made structure here.
Weather - Intense Heat in effect.

As Moonscape readies herself for a pair of powerful Giga Impacts, Groudon gets in three more Fury Cutters -- each one more powerful than the last. Moonscape doesn't even break concentration, despite the sheer pain she's in, and furiously slams into Groudon for amazing damage before needing to take a break.

With Groudon stirred up, you throw your first Ultra Ball. Before it can even connect, however, Groudon snatches it out of the air and slams it on the ground before striking it with a Stone Edge, destroying it.

More annoyed now than worried, Moonscape takes one for the team and summons a veil of restoration that engulfs Esquire at the cost of her own lifeforce. Esquire leaps back into battle and instantly reshapes himself as you recall Moonscape to her Poké Ball. Esquire latches onto Groudon, who struggles to break free from your pokémon's grasp, but the combination of the poison and Groudon's falling HP means that it won't end well for him...

GROUDON "Uncle! Uncle!"

Esquire looks to you for guidance before receiving your acknowledgement. Upon doing so, he frees Groudon from the nelson.

GROUDON "If you wish to capture me, you may do so, Trainer. However--"

Groudon reverts back to his modern form and shatters the Red Orb in his fist.
