Meeting for what?
I believe the Illusion ability is a little weak, I think that the option of disguising the pokemon as one of your teammates is also adviable, that way it is more tricky to figure if it is the real deal or just Illusion.
I guess PMing the ref when you are using Zorua or Zoroark should maybe be listed in the rules or ability list so that new-Zorua users don't get confused.
Thought that was explained in Illusion's entry...

ns: it is explained in the topic about ref notification, but the option as one of your teammates might be a tad plausible-if only for 1 on 1 scenarios

how about a place were you can request a ref?
thats the reffin tower brosky
no im talking a place solely for asking for a ref, because its quite hard to not feel like your harassing them when no one want to ref you battle, mainly because they don't have time but... anyway the reffing tower its self seams to be wear you go if you want to be a ref, not so much posting "hey anyone want to ref this battle :link here:?" i could only image you getting ignored and by-posted
Neo: Its understandable, the frustration you might feel when having to acquire a ref. But the Reffing Tower is the point place to do just that. We're trying to make it more user inclusive, so people know if they post there, then Refs will check there and grab up matches, sorta like how we do with Safari Zone refs :/

I suggest we implement a better reward for refs to do matches. I know I suggested this months ago, and it was shot down, but as the great ref shortage of 2010-2011 continues with no results in sight, SOMETHING has to be done.

O.o? Ref shortage?
::Notes that while himself hasn't been doing more than 8 matches, 4 people have each picked up 3 matches each...and half of the people who want refs ARE refs and don't help the situation as needed for whatever the case may be.:: So double edge sword for the kettle :/

There are two main causes for the "ref shortage":
1) Two refs that were doing more than 3 matches each have been absent: Rossymore and CEB. CEB has just come back, so this will help. Also, we have a new ref who has picked up a few, so that will also help.
2) I think we've had more new users of recent than is normal, although MLG or another mod will need to confirm that.
DL pointed out that he's got 8 matches, and 4 other refs have picked up 3 matches each, totalling 20 matches being reffed. That is sufficient for a total of 10 battlers each taking part in 4 battles. I am pretty sure that we have more than 10 people at the moment.

The growth and commitment is there, so the "ref shortage" is only apparent due to people noting their battles are not being picked up as fast as they would like. Trust me, all battles will be addressed as fast and to the ability of the refs as a collective whole.

The reffing problem really isn't that bad. Have people really lost the little thing called patience? Refs can't do everything at once, and many (well, me at least) don't like to take on many battles at a time because they don't want to make a commitment and not be able to go through with it. I know I'm new to reffing and ASB in general, but surely people could have a little more persistance and just wait until a ref gets around to being able to actually ref.
Also, there should be a quicker way of earning points. I can't seem to get any because it really is taking too long for refs and other battlers to post, and I saw a nice idea a few pages back about a weekly/monthly points allowance based on the amount of points that people have. Or maybe perhaps based on the amount of posts made in this forum, for each 5 posts you get a point at the end of the week/month. This would make it fairer to the users with less points; activity is what matters. For example, with the other system suggested, (ie. interest) the users that have loads of points but aren't very active don't get more points points per whatever and the less well off points wise but perhaps the more active don't get stuffed into a corner and left with a disadvantage. After all, those with more points and are able to get highly evolved pokemon to sweep through battles with, and even legendaries via the safari zone.

Believe me, points go fast. It just takes a little start
Yeh points do come fast, one week I think I amassed about 40 points or something like that.
My little 2 cents here is probably something more for reffing "melee" battles. For example a 2v2 tag team match is worth 2 points for reffing, while a 1v1 is worth the same amount and ultimately takes less effort to do. I know its good for battlers since both their pokemon get experience fast, but what incentive do refs have to take on these battles?

This. I hate reffing double battles and don't even get me started on the headache that, say, an eight-Pokemon-all-on-the-field-at-one-miserable-time battle causes. They're over in a small number of rounds but each round takes ridiculously long to map out and calculate. A little more compensation for those matches in particular would be nice.
That being said, yeah, you rack up quite a bounty reffing... and that's just the stipend you get for reffing every battle. The official reffing rewards or whatever they're called make for quite the cherry on the cake.

well i stopped being a ref because one i have no time. and i wasn't all that good with typing and describing, i also tend to lean on the damage calculation, math portion.
EDIT: and yes i do see that alot of battler are getting reffed. the only thin is that a seen one battle that start i think the 20th or march, and has yet to finish round one, but know that i know its approved to ask for refs at the reffing tower, i will go there. also im not trying to make anyone look or feel bad >.<

I will agree with ceb that 1v1 battles are fast for refs, fast for battlers. I think DL and co need to review that still...
Also, a self-plug here... The casino can make fast points for the people who have them. Although, admittedly, it's also a good way to lose points... The games are as close to "I expect zero-sum" as possible where I can do so though.

I'm surprised more people don't ref simply out of the sheer fun of it. When a match I'm reffing is going right, I find it even more enjoyable than actually battling some of the time. It gives me an opportunity to befunnycompletely stupid with my write-ups. Putting together reffing templates is also weirdly amusing.
I'm actually really interested in being a ref. and i think I'd be pretty good, but I dont have the time.
I think the compensations for reffing are also reasonable. Atleast I hope you can't complain Me and DL could take in account higher points for melee-battles (especially ones that like 4 vs 4 and higher), though.
*schemes*
Also, we need the Gyms and E4 to shine!

I ref, mostly because it was another, almost faster way of getting points. however real-life concerns can put a pinch on your availability. As you've probably noticed, some months I'm posting reffings for matches every day, other months, it may take me a week to respond.
And I'll agree with the previous statements about Double+ Battles. Sure... they can be over fast, but they can also take forever to plot out.

Personally, a unique arena or battle situation is fun to ref. Once middle school ends, I can probably do more reffing then I normally do...

A couple of times of recent, discrepencies have been noticed between the movelist/stratedex and veekun/bulbapedia. Some of these are intentional, e.g. Counter doesn't deal back double the initial damage, since that would be A LOT. Other times, they are not, e.g. Until recently, magic coat didn't include the term non-damaging, which caused a battler to think Wrap got bounced back. I have mistaken a case where the change was intentional, but subtle. (specifically, I thought prankster affected most non-damaging moves because the changed the status of the opponent/user/battlefield. How is rain dance not affecting the status of the battlefield?)
To help clarify these misunderstandings, I propose that, over time, the moves/abilities in the movelist/stratedex that are different from the games get "Clarification: Unlike the games, this move/ability does X in ASB." In some cases, you might just get "Clarification: This move/ability works nothing like the games." (e.g. Anything berry-related). That way, when a move is accidentally different, or subtly different, the change/lack of change is more noticeable.

Dude, it's a free country. Just do it. You don't have to ask him.
Haha
Had to get past the reffing stuff there to address this point.
Good idea. I'm sure for most berry related and tweaked moves, this would hep both new and old. Especially with Disable :/ Though just telling me to hurry the hell up and rewrite it also helps.
However, I need to talk to Jeff about Dex integration so you can see the ASB meaning as well as the regular move meaning, thereby alleviating the need for us to write it more than once. .

While I've got it on my mind, we should also cover magic coat-able moves, if we have a list different to the games. Snatch-able moves are marked as such, but magic coat-able moves are not. Amnesia apparently isn't, according to Grey, which caught me off-guard.
