Nice article and good Pokémon choice for your top 5. I was never too big a fan of Vaporen though. It's Lapras all the way!
Just thought I'd drop a link to an article I wrote where I listed my top 5 favourite Pokemon from gen 1. Yes, it's the sort of thing we've been discussing for the last 13 years together, but now it's out there! On a website! And it needs your click lovin'.
So please read it, won't you? ♥
Warning: some Charizard-related smack talk contained within.

Congratulations!
And I do like Vaporeon. I've trained one in every game I've played. And you included Vulpix too! ^_^
Umm... Ice attacks are still more dangerous to Dragonite than Fairy.

Yes, I'm also a fan of Lapras... but Vaporeon rocks in its own way. Good list and article! You're a funny guy.

Charizard > Venusaur. Literally. And Blastoise is more or less undeniably the top of the Gen 1 starter pyramid.
Cry more, flower children.
Thank you all so much for taking a look - I appreciate all of the support and feedback! I wrote a follow up, because I'm lacking in creativity like that. If you're keen, please feel free to take a look!
Interesting.
I like Cyndaquil and Ampharos 2. The only issue I have with the Cyndaquil line is that they don't learn any good non-fire-type attacks, so they're helpless against Pokemon who resist Fire (like Rock types). Even if you move faster and burn your opponent (and your opponent only uses Physical attacks), that still doesn't even out the field due to Rock's advantage over Fire. I still train them, though.

Better than the first list, but I have to say, I find your choices a bit odd in how... pedestrian a lot of them are. Smeargle and Quagsire sort of broke that mold, and while I wouldn't rather see yet another Smogon list glorifying the likes of Blissey and Scizor, it just seems underwhelming to pick the likes of Ampharos and Crobat to represent the Gen that gave us not only bizarre type combinations like Heracross's and Girafarig's, it also gave us 2 entirely new types.
Decent picks for Generation II Pokémon there... except for Smeargle. That one came out of the left field. I was never much of a Quagsire either but the other three I had often on my team, even in later Generations.

I'm still trying to work out the kinks with Typhlosion and where it fits competitively. Eruption is nice, but if there's entry hazards or your opponent gets the first hit in, it's crippled. It's probably one of the least useful starters, overall. I dig the design, though.
This is a fair call, but I'm afraid I'm just as susceptible to popular hype as everyone else. I haven't given much thought to my gen 7 list yet, but it probably will include Lycanroc, despite the fact that everyone loves it because it's a cute rock-type puppy. Different Pokemon resonate with me for different reasons, and ultimately, Ampharos and Crobat were automatic inclusions because they were on my original Silver team from way back in 2000. I'm actually surprised more people don't like Smeargle, actually. It's squishiness makes it a risky play, but that utility just can't be beat.
I still like to use Crobat every now and then, though I still stubbornly try and force classic Trapbat into modern competitive. It doesn't go so well, unfortunately.
Thanks again for all the support, guys. If you're still onboard, gen 3 is up and ready to digest!
There's also an unrelated article on how I love Sonic the Hedgehog. It's my favourite fluff piece haha
Again, some interesting picks in Generation III.
Spoink, never had one myself. He makes for some interesting thoughts regarding his Pokédex entry though, no doubt.
Breloom... I had that guy in my team a lot but was never happy with him. He seems so timid and week even though his type combo is quite interesting. In the end he ended up benched sooner or later.
Swellow is a good pick too. Often enough had one but I wouldn't rank him as no. 1. The attacks you gave him are good enough but nothing I'd go with during the actual game.

The #1 spot sucked, but everything else gets a pass. Shedinja fans are always cool in my book.
Alas, Breloom has a poor history of success for me as well. The 4x Flying weakness is an absolute killer, particularly since birds are particularly quick and can down him fast with hard-hitting physicality. I'm glad you liked the list!
haha thanks man. I really want to try and play around with Shedinja competitively, despite its limitations. Not a Swellow fan though? He's my dude!
In the meantime, I've also made up my articles for generation 4, generation 5 and generation 6 - with the final edition due sometime next week. Thanks again everyone for reading and supporting! <3
Also, here's a cheap plug for my waifu article. It has a picture with boobies! So that's always a winner. Also, I wrote it while drunk. Professionalism ++
Last top 5 Pokemon article for gen 7 is up and a'runnin'. Whoa nelly!
Fun reads! I LOL'ed at the second Donald Trump reference.
I suggest you to do a top 5 anime/cartoon blog next.
