I'll battle
Hello. I'd like to have a battle in the arena that is The De-Generator from the ASB Arena Dex. It has been made by Greyfox.
I ban no moves.The De-Generator
Similar to the Elements of Change arena, you and your pokémon are suspended on a platform high into the air. Unlike Elements, however, your pokémon's types don't change every round. Instead, your pokémon are locked out of their traditional abilities and are linked to the abilities of the arena. Every three rounds, a RNG will issue an different ability for the arena that both pokémon are subject to. This ability can be any of the abilities released so far, even abilities exclusive to legendary and banned pokémon.
Restrictions:
Free for anyone to use.
I'm fine with 3 vs 3, 4 vs 4, 5 vs 5, 6 vs 6, you name it.
Any takers? A ref to decide who sends out first?

I'll battle
Ash0011? Cool! Hopefully we'll get this one done until the very end!
How many Pokemon do you wish us to use? One out at a time is my condition.
why not 6v6, a nice long match, and how about no damage cap/capped at 50 (rather than the usual 40)
Sounds very good. Now we only need a referee.
if no ref by friday then I guess I'm out
How about shortening it? What says Ash0011?
I'm fine with that, what do you want to shorten it to?
3 vs 3?
sounds good
I'm up for some semi-professional stuff then. How about you two send me the team you want to use and I'll let the gods of randomness decide who starts, announcing the first two pokemon, aye?
Okay, I have the Pokémon, so let's get this started.
Mikachu will be using Bugi, the male Venonat with Compoundeyes, while Ash releases his Gallade with no information whatsoever. You should tell us the ability/gender/nickname before someone issues commands, right?
Anyway, the gods of randomness tell me, that Ash issues his commands first. Fortunate at that!
sorry,
Gallade

Psyshock

alright, safeguard~agility~agility
try to take as few hits as possible
also don't we get random abilities?
OK, Bugi, just Zen Headbutt thrice.
Perhaps we should ask Greyfox to elaborate the rules. The original post says the Abilities change 'every three rounds', so if I'm correct, there are 2 possible interpretations.
1) The referee tells the Abilities that will be in effect for three following rounds. Here we know all the time what Abilities the Pokemon are subject to.
2) The referee tells the Abilities that were in effect at the end of the round. Here we don't know about the Abilities during the first round, but afterwards.
I prefer the first interpretation, then we could focus better on the strategy. Perhaps.
Alright, alright. We'll go for the first interpretation then.
I'm guessing it wouldn't affect your choice of moves, but I'll wait for a reply before I start reffing, aye?
The first Ability for you is: Oblivious.
I suppose, since it doesn't change a thing considering your orders, I may start reffing in a few hours, right? (:
OK, I won't change anything. What about Ash0011.
Ah, I just forgot what oblivious is. Checked it, and won't change anything lol

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. I CAN'T HEAR A THING UP HERE. HELLO?
Anyway, welcome to the Degenerator! As the name suggests it's going to get degenerating! That's not even a legit word, is it? Anyway, our combatants fight on a giant platform suspended in the air, while the abilities of their Pokémon change every 3 rounds. I should stop quoting Oslo, but it it is going to get switchical this time around! Since both trainers are already present on the platform, we shall, without further ado, START THE BATTLE!
Uhm, yeah, you might release your Pokémon too.
Ability: Oblivious
♣ROUND 1♣
ARE YOU SURE YOU HEAR ME? Ah, screw this. The fight starts off fast with the Gallade named... Psyshock... building up a protective barrier. Bugi is not impressed, and charges into him full force.
[ Bugi | -0 HP | -7 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -8 HP | -6 EP | Safeguard ]
Gallade is not beaten just yet. He takes revenge by... wait a second. He just starts running around fast. Great. Good Moves! You are going to get that Bug.
Totally. Venonat, a bit confused by the Gallade's speed needs to think about his next move. He waits patiently for the right moment to strike and totally misses, flying to the ground. Oh man, this is going to get worse, isn't it? Too bad he doesn't have his usual vision.
[ Bugi | -0 HP | -8 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -6 EP | Agility Stage One ]
Alright, but now Gallade strikes back. Nevermind, he just keeps raising the speed. Even Bugi has some serious troubles with locating his opponent now. However, he does hit him none the less, not reducing his speed though. This is going to suck so hard for the little bug.
[ Bugi | -0 HP | -7 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -8 HP | -6 EP | Agility Stage Two ]
------------------------------------------
...Afterwards...
Referee Notes
- Mikachu Yukitatsu will issue his commands next!
- Agility is a bit tricky. You have 3 stages of agility that work as follows:
Stage 1 raises your speed by 2, your accuracy by 1 and the chance to miss you by 20%.
Stage 2 raises speed by 3, accuracy by 2 and the chance to miss by 30%.
Stage 3 raises speed by 5, accuracy by 3 and the chance to miss by 40%.
The stage goes down by one every 2 actions. To get to a higher stage, Agility must be used consecutively. If you use it once every 2 actions, you will remain on the same stage. (If there are any questions concerning this, feel free to ask me)- Unless overcome, Gallade's Safeguard will remain for 6 more Actions!
- I'm aware there isn't much flavour text at all, but the commands were a bit... one-sided I guess (:
- If the Energy of a Pokémon happens to reach 0, it will lose 1 HP for every 2 EP consumed. Also, it's action pool is reduced to two per round. However, the effect of "Relax" is doubled.
Bugi, use Foresight to restore the foe's evasion.
Sludge Bomb then, hopefully poisoning him.
End with Psychic.
If you see Protect being used during the last two actions, spam with Double Team.
aerial ace to dodge the foresight and do some damage, agility to dodge and keep buffs, use your evasion to dodge while thunder waving him

♣ROUND 2♣
OKAY. WEEE ARE BAAACK!
Venonat watches the speedy gallade eagerly. Suddenly, red lights emits from his eyes, covering the whole arena. Evade this!
Oh, well, it just did. Psyshock glides gracefully through the air, hitting Bugi in the process. However, the light still covers the arena, and it has to land there somewhen in the future eventually.
[ Bugi | -9 HP | -5 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -7 EP | Safeguard ]
Foresight in effect!
Illusions seem to be useless now and Ghosts will feel pretty uncomfortable. However, a target that speedy will still be hard to hit!
That foresight sure have to annoy Psyshock. He thinks of evil revenge plans, but ended up running in circles again. Alright, not going to mock his strategies. They are pretty solid. Totally.
Bugi is tired of his opponent running around and throws a poisonous substance into his direction, however, Gallade is able to avoid it without great effort.
[ Bugi | -0 HP | -9 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -6 EP | Agility Stage Two (refreshed) ]
All of a sudden, Psyshock decides to strike back for the first time ever. Bugi concentrates, but looses focus because of the fast movement. The Gallade appears behind him and conjures some electro waves, causing Venonat's muscles to spasm. With Psyshock being so near to him now, not moving, Venonat's at least able to pick him up and crash him against the arena ground. The plattform starts to rattle, and the trainers start to look a bit pale now, while the referee takes a little break, lying on the arena floor. Oh, god please stahp! As soon as Psyshock hits the ground, it starts moving fast paced once again, keeping up the Agility.
[ Bugi | -0 HP | -9 EP | Paralyzed! ] - [ Psyshock | -9 HP | -6 EP | ~ ]
------------------------------------------
...Afterwards...
Referee Notes
- Ash0011 will issue his commands next!
- While Foresight DOES prevent evasive maneuvers like Double Team or Substitute, it won't be able to track a speedy target down, since it will move fast none the less.

- Venonat's Foresight will stay in effect for 12 more actions!
- The effect of paralysis will slowly decay over the next 5 actions.
- The abilities are going to be changed at the end of the next round.
- If the Energy of a Pokémon happens to reach 0, it will lose 1 HP for every 2 EP consumed. Also, it's action pool is reduced to two per round. However, the effect of "Relax" is doubled.

♣ROUND 3♣
Okay... I think... I think I'm good again. Stupid acrophobia. Anyway, Gallade starts thinking about his most superior move yet. And it's not about running in circles now! Oh wait. Yes it is. Original! While Gallade refreshes the power of his agility, Bugi mumbles mysterious words, and starts moving a lot slower than before... What the hell just happened?
[ Bugi | -0 HP | -5 EP | Curse ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -6 EP | Agility Stage Two (refreshed) ]
Gallade, still running in circles, focusses on the Venonat and flings him around. Pretty easy task at that, since Bugi is completely immobilized by the stupid paralysis.
[ Bugi | -15 HP | -6 EP | Can't move! ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -10 EP | ~ ]
Gallade decides that running is not all the rage anymore, and slows down a bit, still flinging around an immobilized Venonat, crashing it against the platform several times. OH GAWD NO! Everything starts to shake. Excuse me, while I start lying on the floor again.
[ Bugi | -16 HP | -7 EP | Can't move! ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -9 EP | Agility Stage 1 ]
Also, the ability for the next 3 rounds changed!
Let's turn up the speed! Speed Boost it is! The damage of high-speed moves is raised, it won't take any effect on priority though, since both Pokémon take advantage of it. Also, Gallade's Safeguard wears off.

Now, create a medium Substitute and see how he deals with that!

If you think I'm out of running-around-to-slay-bugs jokes, you are totally right! However, it's exactly what the Gallade does, refreshing the Agility of Stage One. Bugi, frustrated because Curse doesn't work like it would normally, wants to unleash a barrage of melee hits, but ends up just chasing the Gallade, which isn't a smart move at all.
[ Bugi | -0 HP | -6 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -6 EP | Agility Stage One (refreshed) ]
Venonat is deeply annoyed, and exhausted as well. Bugi set's a substitute up, made of his own cells. He looks at the master piece. Awesome! It looks just like... Gallade? Psyshock starts giggling. Newb. At least Venonat's paralysis wears off. It's something!
[ Bugi | -8 HP | -0 EP | Substitute (12) snatched | Paralysed no more ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -8 EP | Substitute (12) ]
Bugi decides to do SOMETHING this round, and watches the Gallade in front of him closely... With Foresight still in effect, Bugi sees through the substitute and leeches the life of the real Gallade, causing the fake one to vanish. Angered by his failed snatching attempt, Psyshock unleashes a wave of psy energy and throws the Venonat dangerously close to the edge. Also, FINALLY, Psyshock stops running around. Phew. It was about time.
[ Bugi | -15 HP; +4 HP | -7 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -8 HP | -8 EP | Substitute - Vanished | Agility no more ]

♣ROUND 5♣
I guess I have to think about some new puns, because it doesn't seem like Psyshock will start running around any time soon. Damn it. He proceeds in smashing Bugi into the Arena over and over again, hoping to interrupt his movements, but it doesn't work out quite well, since all Bugi has to do is to think a few warm thoughts and all the clouds that were never present in the first place vanish.
Sunny Day is in effect now! The power of fire moves is raised a fair bit, while water moves get weakened. Solar Beam takes no time to charge, and the effect of morning sun is more regenerative than before.
[ Bugi | -16 HP | -6 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -9 EP | ~ ]
And the amazing bug(i)-smashing continues! However, this time Bugi seems to have more HP left than before the smashing. I guess that's some kind of new massage or something? It doesn't seem like Bugi will heal himself again for a while though.
[ Bugi | -16 HP; +24 HP | -10 EP | Regeneration exhaustion ] - [ Psyshock | -0 HP | -7 EP | Substitute (12) ]
Do I even need to tell you what's happening? Psyshock is throwing Bugi around, but this time, it's a little different, as Bugi uses the speed of being thrown around for a little extra thrust towards Psyshock, not dealing more damage, but looking extremely cool.
[ Bugi | -15 HP | -7 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -8 HP; -5 HP due to fatigue | -0 EP | ~ ]
------------------------------------------
...Afterwards...
Referee Notes
- Mikachu Yukitatsu will issue his commands next! Ash is limited to 2commands, due to fatigue.
- What is regeneration exhaustion you might ask. Well, it raises the cost for non damaging/ no status inflicting regeneration moves by 20 EP. Consecutively, meaning if you heal yourself again after the next time, it will cost you 50 EP. The Exhaustion will wear off every 3 rounds by one stage, however, I won't write that down, so be wary.
- The abilities will change at the end of the next round as well.
- Venonat's Foresight will stay in effect for 3 more actions!
- If the Energy of a Pokémon happens to reach 0, it will lose 1 HP for every 2 EP consumed. Also, it's action pool is reduced to two per round. However, the effect of "Relax" is doubled.

Psyshock decides to end this fight quickly, throwing the Venonat around the Arena once more. However, it manages to hold on with his draining power of extreme evilness. Just kidding, he would have survived that anyway, but it sounds a lot cooler that way!
[ Bugi | -16 HP; +4 HP; -3 HP due to fatigue | -1 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -8 HP; -4 HP due to fatigue | -0 EP | ~ ]
That was a quick round. Before Bugi could even think about resting for a second, he instantly gets knocked out by a strong Psychic attack. Damn it.
Fun Fact: He would have decreased Bugi's Special Defense with that one. Too bad that didn't happen earlier.
[ Bugi | -3 HP | -0 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -5 HP due to fatigue | -0 EP | ~ ]
Also, you guys get a whole new awesome ability! (I still think it would be better if both get different abilities, but whatever.)
It is Healer! Your Pokémon will randomly heal status conditions with a set chance!

Referee Notes
- Mikachu Yukitatsu will release his Pokémon next. Ash0011 will issue his 2 commands afterwards!

- Venonat's Foresight will stay in effect for 1 more action!
- If the Energy of a Pokémon happens to reach 0, it will lose 1 HP for every 2 EP consumed. Also, it's action pool is reduced to two per round. However, the effect of "Relax" is doubled.

♣ROUND 7♣
With another flash of red light, Mikachu's second Pokémon takes the field, ready for some wrecking some havok, a giant bird made of steel. Psyshock decides to put his speed to good use and relax in extreme speed. Well, actually, you can't be dodging and relaxing at the same time, so he pretty much just sits there on the ground, trying to regain some energy. Derp. A perfect target for the Skarmory, who slashes him with a few sharp and precise winds.
[ Heviva | -0 HP | -7 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -11 HP | +21 EP | ~ ]
While Psyshock continues to think about how the hell it is possible to dodge and relax at the same time, Skarmory's beak starts spinning rapidly, and he charges into Psyshock with it.
[ Heviva | -0 HP | -7 EP | ~ ] - [ Psyshock | -14 HP | +14 EP | ~ ]
Psyshock is too exhausted to continue relaxing, and just stands up, walking around a bit, while Heviva delivers another slashing wind into the face. Ouch!
