Bluster Contest

Hey all. Here are the things you'll need to know for this Contest.
It's going to be small,so not a huge payout. The theme might be fun though.

1) Two Pokemon. One appeal each. Three rounds
2) Max of 5 people to enter.
3) Winner determined by round totals, so no elimination.
4) All rounds Super Appeals.

Blustery winds blow all over the field. Its not Gale force, but you can stand slanted in the wind. Anything you try will be blown around, so be conscientious of that. You are indoors, so no weather moves allowed. Lighter Pokemon could be lifted off the ground by the wind.

The wind always blows and it changes direction often, so it's hard to judge where the next powerful force will strike from.

Hey hey hey. Alright. As we all may not know, we have a new stadium for Contests. Its the size of half a football field, and fully enclosed so there are 360 degrees of awesome to be seen form.

The wind is coming in from the southeast, and my view is-6 o clock if your Pokemon is staring directly at me.

Beautifly, You come in under the moon, and use Double team to make a few of you, and then all of you perform a beautiful Quiver Dance.

leo go as near to the origin of the wind as you can, then leo paint up a sandtomb, but with ice instead of sand with a ball of flash in the middle then paint a psy medallion and bring it to the middle, then make the flash explode sending a rainbow of ice everywhere and gets blown away by the wind

Dratini enters stage


Go my beautiful Dratini let's take advantage of this wind and allow you to be swept up in the wind and literally fly with the wind. And do Twister. Now use your long eel-like body to swim in the Twister and use Agility to show your envious speed.

Go my little Dratini. Relax again and perform Double Team. Now there are many Dratini now so we'll use Dragon Pulse and obliterate your doubles to end. Smile, smile, smile.

Tudor, use Water Sport to act like rainfall to encourage the growth of several Grass Knots out of the ground around you to hide your presence (but hint at it as the wind blows them around). Throw a Shadow Ball far ahead into the direction of the wind. As the shadow ball blows back towards you, wait until it's just in front of the vines and shoot a Leaf Storm at it to (a) shred the vines and reveal your presence, (b) destroy the ball and (c) be showered in the blow back of the leaves and fragments of shadow ball in a glittery, leafy, display-y... thing.

Okay, Aikoku, lt's take advantage of the wind, and make it even stronger by beginning with a tailwind. Zip around for a little while, show your speed prowess, then make your way up into the centre of the stadium. Take a death dive and go straight down, but use Whirlwind in the centre of the stadium to create a tornado to both catch and hide yourself. While that audience think you're hurt, fly up through the tornado and burst out through the top as quickly as you can, and as you get to the top use Hidden Power to send out a flash of multicoloured orbs, then use Air Slash to make them all burst in a wave of sparks.

Well! Here we are at the Bluster Contest
First off: Thank you all for coming. It's going to be a good contest today, despite the wind. The order for the contest is going to be at random at each stage, so you'll never have to worry about going first per say.

All scores are tabulated at the bottom, and this is not an Elimination Contest, so give it your all, and you just may come out on top.

Round 1-Riding the current

With such a blustery stage, it's amazing something wants it to get windier! But that's how today's Contest starts! Aikoku, a Braviary with a penchant for speed, begins this round by flying round the arena. The winds make it superbly easy for him to move, as they just push him along at a great clip. People's necks go back and forth, trying to keep up with his aerial maneuvers and his unrelenting speed.

The speeding bird dipped down into the left side of the stadium and then made a sharp right to head back toward the top center of the stadium. As it flew up, it began to corkscrew, causing a Whirlwind to emanate. By opening its wings and refocusing its rotation energy, the Whirlwind was forced off of Aikoku and into the center of the stage. Fearing not, the bird deftly dove into the winds of its own creation, allowing it to slow down some. However, the audience just saw a bird dive into a whirlwind head first. Before collision could ensure, everyone pointed, to spy the avian speed out of the tornado, with what seemed to be orange, red and yellow balls of light fly off in all directions. As the spheres seemed to escape, Aikoku banked around and swung one wing out, creating a ripple of air that surged through the arena, shattering the spheres one by one.

Regaining its aerial balance with winds pushing you left and right, Braviary tried to humbly leave the arena through its applause.

The hyper winds die down, but not before another Pokemon starts to speed through them. Before anyone can really recoup from that dazzler of a display we've just witnessed, everyone's alive with murmurs about the blue streak that's speeding by. As it flies by, Dratini manages to start spinning in air,much like the Braviary did. However, Dratini forces the Twister to encircle its body, rather than be a stand alone force.

As the Twister grows longer, Dratini dips inside it and begins to surf its currents, using a heightened Agility only something with no legs could possibly accomplish. Once the tubular surf was completed, Dratini exited the Twister and tried to skid to a stop on the ground. With its stop came a plentiful surprise. each skid created a new Dratini. Once at a full stop, Dratini turned around, in shock at its imposters now lining the field. With no remorse, it turned on them, and began ratting them off like rogues in a shooting gallery!

Only...the first Dragon Pulse was smacked off course by the wind, and crashed into the protective siding of the stadium. Taking into account the direction of the wind this time, Dratini fired off another Pulse that shot through the hearts of the clones in one fell swoop. In a flash, their bodies faded away...with the wind.

The winds kick up, and the next Pokemon take the stage. Out flies a Mothim and a Beautifly, having a tad bit of trouble keeping in one spot. They flutter about momentarily, going over their roles in their minds before starting.

Mothim starts by flying upward. In its feelers, a spark begin to form. In due time the spark seems to rip a hole in space-time. But it's all contained in a ghastly sphere of power. Holding this power with a mental exertion, Mothim watches the sphere elevate itself, and mimic a sparking moon.

Meanwhile, between gust propulsion, Beautifly manages to glide dangerously close under the moon. Her posse follow suit, and spread out in a circle all around Mothim. Following the now westerly direction of the wind, they began to spin and twirl, as if enchanted by the darkness which hovers high above their heads. At then end of their rendition of "Midsummer's Night's dream", they are greeted with applause.

Out waddles a small Pokemon, armed with only its brains and a tail that doubles as a weapon that's mightier than a sword. A few kicksteps around, and Leo figures out the wind source, for the moment is coming from the northeastern area of the arena. Facing that direction, she begins sketching like mad. Once her masterpiece is done, all people can see are tiny clear images of what appear to be a cavalade f ice swirling on its own free will with a ball inside. It suddenly comes into being, color and mass taking form to what was only lineart.

Shocked, the crowd stares at it, as Smeargle paints another object out of the sky. This was something not so extraordinary in appearance as it was in effect, as she used the medallion to imbue herself with a Psychic power in order to move said icy whirlpool to the center. The crowd watches, as finally the flashbomb explodes...inside the matrix.

The resulting ice storm that is set free upon the audience...isn't received so well. All that wind and ice blowing around does hurt a bit. No major injuries though. However, those unharmed witnessed a kaleidoscopic display of light reflecting from all the individual ice crystals. It really did put a shine on the events that have transpired thus far.

From the windswept grass appears our next competitor. Revealing itself to the audience is a small grass type with a joyous smile on its face. Tudor joyously hops to get a view of everyone, the wind easily tossing her light body forward a few feet more than she would like. Seeing this, she raises one hand up, and a stream of water spurts from the ground, and sweeps hard right.

Both hands raise, causing the water from the ground to erupt skyward, and blow at a reverse angle to its inception. This causes the right side of the audience to get wet, but they don't seem to care. The ground starts to quiver-and knotty roots start to appear, overgrowing the land at the moment. These knots spring up and obscure the smaller Pokemon-though some kids point out the red and blue petal still visible.

All of a sudden, a faster than usual Shadowball careens from the makeshift garden. It speeds toward the crowd, before making a powerful left, and blowing back toward Tudor. Waiting until the moment was right, a new attack was unleashed. One that plowed the road of both the shadowball and the grass knots into mulch, and forced the Shadowball to explode in a combustive manner.

The crowd applause as leaves fly all around the arena, showering those close enough with wet leaves.

Well, that's the contest's first round. Let's see how everything added up.

Cynder: You and Aikoku set up a really excellent display of wind control and execution within said predicament. Helps that Aikoku can..you know... fly. I saw the end flub there, but it was small and easily unnoticeable. Great first appeal. 9/10

firepokemon: To follow on the heels of a appeal like that is a tough assignment...but you did it well. Unlike Aikoku-which is encumbered by wings-Dratini's was more about speed and accessibility-as it maneuvered though things instead of trying to create misdirection. The Dragon Pulse going rouge there was a little flub, but hey, that's the wind. The comedy with the clones was appreciated, it wasn't too over the top-and the fading away part was pretty insightful on your part. 8.5/10

Ayeun: At first, we (being the judging committee of me, myself and I) weren't sure what to think, with the use of two Pokemon in the first round. But we decideed to let it go and see what you could come up with. It was less grandeur that the starting two, but it did capitalize on the fact that the flying Pokemon are not limited to just power. This was much more graceful-but Mothim seemed too encumbered in the midst of this dance. Yes, nit was responsible for the creation of the moon, but that was all, as if it was a prop. I don't feel that the male bug was adequately represented. 7.5/10

Ash: Now we come to the interesting appeal. Tell you the truth, I was expecting alot from Leo here. Some perfectly sketched ordeal that we would be enlightened to see. But...what we got was a large dud. The creation of an igloo with a light blub inside was a good start, but then...things just didn't fizzle...they straight died. It was just a bunch of standing around, with everyone waiting for an igloo to ...well I don't even know. I hope to see better in the coming rounds. 4/10
Edit: After realizing I forgot Sand Tomb existed, I had a chance to take off the stupid goggles and resee the appeal. Now it makes a hell of alot more sense. Still, sharp winds like that do pose a danger for those with no face shields. The ending effect was majorly boosted by the foresight to use ice crystals for their reflective properties. Just...be mindful of your audience and you'll be great. 8.3/10

Razor: Well. After 4 varied appeals, we get to a smaller terrestrial presence. It was invigorating to see water used in these winds, as well as movement that was not of the Pokebody itself. The use of the attack to help reveal Tudor's location was novel, and the aftermath of wet leaves across the crowd wasn't taken TOO badly. This appeal was more about cunning than power-though power was a large part of it. 8/10.

... the flash didn't need any power, sand tomb is the ground version of whirlpool it was a tornado the flash was just to make it look epic, it didn't even need to explode that was part of the psychic blowing apart the ice tornado into a glittering ice storm

Sand Tomb -GRD- The user summons a twister of sand which moves across the field and strike the opponent engulfing them for a certain number of rounds dealing a small amount of damage each round.

A good start for us but I feel we need more points.

Come on stage my lovely Pachirisu. Pachi-pachi-pachirisu

We're going to need to be careful here Pachirisu. The winds are strong and electric attacks will be difficult here as we don't wish to hurt the audience. But lets start with the ultra cute move Sweet Kiss. Wait for the wind to carry the sweet kiss all around the stage then jump up and use Hyper Fang to rid the stage of Sweet Kiss. Now be carried up with the wind and really focus now and use Discharge. Wait for Discharge to spread all over the stage.

Now we've got one more move we can do. I want to use another electric move to increase the intensity. The wind will undoubtedly move the electricity around but we want to rid the stage of all discharged electricity. Jump spin that tail of yours around and jump through the wind and if necessary let yourself be carried and now use Thunder. Allow Thunder to obliterate the Discharge and jump down and put your tail up so that the Thunder comes crashing down on you for a magical finish.

Pachi-Pachi-Pachirisu Good job Pachirisu.

Sweet Kiss-Hyper Fang-Discharge-Thunder

OK Elizabeth, summon an Attack Order and have them fly at you and try to attack you, but dodge between them all with Acrobatics. Let the little bugs have their fun, then take some out with several well placed Poison Stings, then knock all the rest out with a final Ominous Wind

alright psyshock your turn I want you to use magical leaf into the wind while that's going follow with a charge beam, jump up into the two moves and use calm mind and finish by using stored power to blow it all into glitter and gracefully float down to the ground through the air and shimmering light

C'mon Yurei, we're not going to disappoint the audience with a flop after the last appeal! Begin by setting up a Safeguard on the audience - not only will the glow look pretty, it'll also take the heat off your next appeal! Then focus your abilities with Calm Mind, and if possible let the calm feeling eminate to the audience, which will make this next appeal all the more unexpected. Now, using your heightened mental abilities, create an inferno like Lampent does in the anime - begin by creating a ball of fire and swinging it around a bit, then fire it up towards the roof, where you will force the flames to explode in a rush of fire, and allow the flames to be spread by the wind. Then, while the blue flames are still there, throw up a Fire Blast into the mixture to create a pattern of blue and orange flame around the arena, thrown around by the wind. Allow the flames to die down, and exit.

Mothim, this one is on you.

Lets have some fancy flying. Use Acrobatics to show us some fast moves and sharp turns. When the wind changes, or you end up flying in to the wind, use U-turn to get it behind you and keep flying. Finish your flight with a sharp Air cutter.

And for the duration of the whole flight, leave a trail behind you of sparkling Psybeam, to write a message in the sky.

With such an eager crowd, who am I to disappoint! Here is round 2 of the Blustery Contest!

The crowd is energized from the last round of appeals. Fan favorites can be heard murmuring though the audience, but this is only the beginning! We held a secret lottery to set the order this round as well. So, without further ado, let us begin!

Out for round two comes a royal buzz. Her honeycomb shaped dress defies imagination as to how she stays aloft, but no one doubts her royal demeanor. Elizabeth sets the stage for the second round with a raucous applause. She waves to the audience modestly, before raising both hands to the sky. As the winds rip around the arena, they are soon joined by a plethora of bees. These Combees encircle their queen, ready to do her bidding.

Elizabeth then dropped both hands, hanging in the sky as if she was some sort of limp rag doll. The bees, unamused by this lack of attention, surge toward the limp Vespiquen. Before the swarm of bugs struck her, she managed to use the wind speed to throw herself above the first swarm, spin around the second swarm and duck below the third. She continues to deftly avoid her own mutinous swarm to the cheer of the crowd. Her Acrobatic flight dazzles, even as the wind tosses her body harder than she would like. She retains enough control to spin a few feet backwards, as the swarms regroup. The buzzing grows to a fever pitch before three waves of bugs head for Elizabeth. The first wave endures a rain of stings, each one aimed precisely at a Combee’s head. As the first wave falls short of the queen, waves two and three sweep in. Without even battling an eye, Elizabeth lets the wind blow her forward. Her limp arms fly behind her and she wiggles her digits. The tailwind that assists her suddenly gains a taint of purple, and as the Combees blast through it, they start to fall off in flight. Elizabeth floats to the edge of the stage, before being blown back up by the wind, as the rest of the bees fall in a line to the stage. Applause erupts for the queen, as she flies up and away.

As she flies up, eyes of the audience divert down to someone else walking through the grass. The little Ralts spreads its fingers over the grass, as if quietly pondering what it’s to do. Psyshock however-grabs a tuft of grass and throws it skyward, where the wind immediately picks it up. From that tuft grows a deluge of leaves that fly vertically. That benefits Psyshock, who flings a charged beam of electricity upward, zapping the leaves. In the spirit of this windy place, the wind now hammers down and to the left, causing a slope of electrified leaves in an angle over the Ralts. Using the wind as best he could, Ralts runs and flips into the mix of electric greenery and calmly flips through it, unharmed. Landing as the leaves blow away was a tiny bit of an issue, the wind start to blow Psyshock hard right. Never even breaking a sweat, the small contender released a blast of energy in the direction he was flying. This created a counter force that threw him back toward the remnants of the leaves. The power trails helped to illuminate some of the leaves, but the effect wasn’t superiorly eye dazzling with the wind spreading the leaves around. Still, Psyshock was able to control his descent through the little glitz there was, to a sound applause.

Not to be left behind when it came to show stopping appeals, we have a Pachirisu dash onto the field. Immediately, he stood on his hind legs and blew kisses to the fans. It seem premature, but the creature is so cute that the audience engages in a series of “Awwwwwww”s. As the spell blows around, Pachirisu watches carefully. When he sees it starting to break up, he lunges toward the mass of the energy and bites through it, effectively breaking the spell for those directly in front of the kissing energy at the time. Those folks leered back at the sight of a squirrel biting the air in front of them, but they were more curious to see the wind throw…literally THROW Pach skyward and to the east. Control was a harsh issue here, but Pach held his plan together, and fired up a massive bolt of electricity. Unlike most attacks of this nature, this one reached a prescribed height and began to spread out in a massive dome shape. Everyone stare at the massive attack, and slightly wondered if the electricity was going to rain down on them. The wind seemed to deform the dome a bit, but Pach was still barely in control here

With its last move still yet to be seen, Pach landed and tried to effectively strike the center of the dome. A rumbling above the dome caught everyone’s attention, and a rogue Thunder struck the dome, but from the side. The renegade bolt careened toward the ground, right to that upraised tail that Pach was holding high. In a brilliant flash-the Thunder reached its target and blinded everyone for a moment. As the glare died down and the winds picked up once more, everyone bore witness to a extensively static filled puffy floating Pachirisu. Everyone cheered on its efforts, and the squirrel half swam/half ran off stage.

Following this, we have a larger mammal enter the fray. Fire being its element, Yurei seems uneasy around all this wind. Concerned about the audience, Yurei graciously throws out a wave of energy that seems to coat everyone in a protective barrier. Everyone applauds this, and watches as the Ninetales walks into the everchanging winds. Its tails fly and whip around like mad. As it walks, the crowd seems to calm down. One might think it uneasiness, I think its Yurei trying to create a lull in order to surprise us all.

And Yurei does not disappoint. All at once, all 9 tails fan out and point upward. From them a massive ball of flame appears, and shoots in front of the fox. Yurei controls the enigmatically blue ball of fire energy, making it revolve around its body in an orbital path, before flinging it skyward, with a westerly trail since the wind shifted directions. Watching its ascent, Yurei blinked, and forced the flames to explode-amidst a sea of cries. Everyone watched as the embers blew all over the arena, in a firestorm of the sky. As the mass of fire spun and flew left and right in this hectic wind, Yurei reared up and aimed a Fire Blast near what could be assumed to be the nexus of this blast. The firey kanji flew skyward with no prejudice, but the wind began to push against it. Some of its tail ends began to trail and burn out, but the mass of the fire connected with the blue flame. This created a dynamic of orange and blue to shower everyone, whom was still protected by the Safeguard. This allowed people some relief, but many a person did move left and right to avoid the flames that did sweep too close. Safeguard or not, fire is still fire and fire is still hot! As the flames start to fade away in the wind, Yurei made its exit.

Following on the coattails of that fox is Mothim, who acts as if the airways only belong to him. He fears not as the wind slams into him headfirst-this allows him to perform a cartwheel over the invisible gusty wall. Then he dips into an arcing dive, which is broken by a quick reverse updraft that allows him to spiral skyward. When he’s back at a suitable height, Mothim releases a strange wave of waves from his body, that conform to his flight pattern, and stay in the sky. As the winds smack him backwards, he manages to cartwheel over them and get within the gust-so he doesn’t have to turn around in flight. The audience watches intently, interested in what else this flier can accomplish here. It’s a bit of a start when the bug suddenly drops down to the ground, but the result was a magnificent announcement!

That Air cutter was still glowing bright blue, and it pointed to the sky-where the Psybeam effect was still visible...and it announced…Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 were coming out in June 2012! NICE!

Results!

Razor: Elizabeth came out and seemed sluggish, but her appeal did alot to rouse the crowd and root her her. A mutinous swarm must be dealt with in a swift and decisive manner. It was great to see the ease in which she put down her disloyal subjects, A great display of grace with control of power 9/10

Ash: Psyshock seemed to be at a disadvantage-needing the wind to work for him when it came to the leaves. However, it panned out well though the finish was not as strong as you would have liked it, due to the blast having to counteract the wind's force. But it still created a nice effect of being enchanted through the wind. 8/10

firepokemon: Well, that was weird! Never ready for an electric dome to rain down on a audience and then a Thunder strike to collect all the static electricity and infuse it into a rodent. No. Never expected that. The dynamic shift between the Kiss and the Fang may have been too sharp? I get the effect of trying to show cute things can bite, but it seemed disjointed from the rest of the appeal. 8/10

Cynder: The fire! It was a risky appeal, but that's a great foresight, using Safeguard to protect from burns. Still, fire is fire, and fire did land in the audience. The folks did move though, so no harm, no foul. As for the appeal itself, I did feel it was a bit of a letdown. Not due to control, that was displayed perfectly with the Inferno creation and execution. It was the easing down of the audience excitement to re-enhance it with your display. It leaves to wonder if the audience would have liked it so much had you not done that. Just something to think about-misdirection has its faults. 8/10

Ay: I truthfully, was surprised. Never thought of Mothim's being graceful. Great way to open one's eyes. The moves used were done in great unison, and the secret use of Psybeam to write a message (and a cool message at that) only helped to make the random motions have some sort of order than can be reflected upon. Great appeal 9/10

Wind to be South-westerly please

Zofis and Pachirisu it is time. Both of you allow the strong south-westerly to pick you up and use the wind to ride it out. Now Pachirisu I want you to do Double Team. That will create several Pachirisu, Zofis you perform Surf manipulate the water to travel with the wind thus creating an almost wave like movement and also at the same time, aim to hit some of the Pachirisu doubles. Pachirisu really spin those doubles and yourself around the stage and with the wind and water that has created a wave could you please use the attack Thunderbolt. Make sure that Thunderbolt is pointed at the wind and water and not towards Zofis.

South Westerly wind, a surf creating water and wind and also thunderbolt pulsating electricity into the air and connecting with the water. Zofis my lovely Dratini we've created something spectacular here but now we must end this great contest and I want you to use a STAB Dragon move.

Dratini rise up and use all your remaining energy. Perform Dragon Pulse, I want strong draconian power expelled by a pulsating beam of energy to wipe out the wind, water and electricity. Pachirisu move your Double Teams closer as well and allow the full force of everything and Dragon Pulse but make sure your real self is not hit. Goooo Dratini. Now Dratini end your Dragon Pulse and both jump down through the cloudy mess caused by the Dragon Pulse wiping out the wind, water and electricity and hold hands and smile to end this contest.

leo draw up a sheer cold around psyshock (making sure to leave him a bubble) make sure that ralts is in the center and start ice skating around psy use syncronoise in the small space to shatter the ice and send it flying (and creating a nice resonating note) into the wind (while leo jumps through the ice to the center of the stadium), but before it can get anywhere hit it with a ricocheting thunderbolt that lights everything up and turns the ice into snow and finish with leodrawing a vacuum wave to suck the snow and remaining electricity into a glowing orb that it shatters to release a rainbow of colors

Beautifly, enter from the north.

Use Whirlwind to bring the wind to the middle, and direct it to stay in a circular vortex. Wind can't be seen normally, so you are going to use Silver wind to add some colour. Use Hidden Power (flying) to keep the whirling winds contained. Finish off by firing a Morning sun in to the mix, to make it sparkle.
