Hey, I just got a female Barboach, and I would like to test it.
1 VS 1

Arena: Pool, Pokemon can swim out of the lake and get out of the water completely. The water is clear so every Pokemon underwater is clearly seen. It is about 5 meters deep.

I already chose Barboach, so you send and then choose attacks.

===Round 1===

A new arena. Nice nice. I like pools. Seems while I take a swim we'll be having a battle. Kyuu and Chaos are here, and oh hey they're both using water Pokemon. How quaint. A Barboach and a Staryu enter the waves and swim around joyously for a bit, before getting down to business.

Staryu spins around and well a piece of it falls off and floats away. Eww floater. I'm getting out. Barboach seems not very worried about the sanitary issues like I am, and just sits there, lazily wafting in the water.

Bar: -7E ===//=== Star: -8E/-10H Sub: 10/10

Satisfied with the floating decoy, Staryu begins to churn the water around it, forcing it to crest above it and Barboach. The slimy fish tries to shake things up and forces an Earthquake to hit under the pool. The force of the quake changes the level of the pool's ground, making the Surf wave lose energy. Not to mention Surf wasn't too terribly effective on Barboach anyway..

Sub still floating there, Barboach waggles around again, and releases a second Earthquake. This one aids Stary's monumental Surf and creates a super wave that comes crashing down on the fish. Barboach swims down from the force, but notes the Sub was broken apart by the Earthquakes effect on the water where it was floating.

Alright, now use Spark, follow it by a Dragon Dance, finish with another Spark.

Shrink away from those sparks with Minimize. Then slow it down a bit with Icy Wind. Then, hit it with Toxic

Also, DL, why did you say that surf wouldn't be very effective against Barboach? It's a water/ground type, and as a result, has no resistance to water moves. Same will apply to Ice moves.

===Round 2===

The little Barboach swam around underwater, and Staryu gave chase. Barboach began to emit sparks off her body and shot toward the echidnoderm. Staryu stopped and tried to make itself scarce by dimming the shine its jewel made. However, that was a lil too late, as Barboach slammed into it.

Pissed, Staryu used that increase in evasiveness to swim around and channel its energy into a strange form. Instead of a wind, it was more of a current of water that was freezing cold. It definitely gave Barboach a chill, but she still danced about.

Unfazed for the moment, Bar tried on slam herself into Staryu again. This time yielded different results, as Staryu released a purple mist in the water Bar swam through it, and wound up missing her target. She also inhaled a nice portion of that Toxic spot, and felt sick instantly.

Just then, a searing bright ball came from the heavens, and slammed into Staryu, crashing him into the bottom of the pool (10).

Not liking the fact that he could still be struck, Staryu once again raised its changes and shrunk it apparent body size. Barboach once again looked into the future, but this was a lil hazy...

Staryu shot through the water like a shuriken, and the wter had a strange regenerative property. Its body seemed to toughen up. Fearful of a strike Barboach protected, but no ill came of it.

Pissed that wasn't an actual attack, Bar decided to shake things up. Unable to avoid the whole arena, Staryu kinda waited until the water began to jostle it about uncomfortably. Barboach swoon stopped flapping round and noted Staryu glowing strangely. Wait...did it just heal?

I used Protect O.o, guess I'm more sleepy than I thought, hopefully this'll be better.

Use Earthquake, then another Earthquake, and finally use Double Team.

Wow... Dig through older edition games and you can find a lot of weird things.

Use Barrier to boost your defense against the second earthquake. If you can manage to get it off faster than him, then great, it'll help against the first one too. Next, whip up Hailstorm, which will tear apart the clones that he makes next turn, and powers up your Blizzard.

===Round 4===

Being smaller has its uses. It allows one to move faster in certain situations, and it makes it harder to be hit by inexperienced opponents. Barboach however, didn't really have this problem, because she would merely throw a wriggling fit and cause another Earthquake.

The rotating Staryu though, didn't really fear that expenditure of energy anymore, as it cleverly created a field of energy that seemed to lessen the blow significantly.

Still, Staryu was jostled through the waves uncomfortably, pondering if this opponent had any other course of action. Underneath the water, the starfish began to glow, calling upon a strong change in weather, even as the waves were tumbling it about.

High above, the skies darkened, and the first evidence of Hail began to fall. Staryu wasn't too sure how much it would help tho..

Finally, Barboach stopped that infernal waterquaking. By this time the pool floor was a wreck. The slimy fish then split into 5, completely unexpected. Staryu waited that out,and then...realized its error.

Ice floats, and they're deep under water. The hail isn't reaching far enough to discern the true Barboach. That kinda ruffled the well prepared planner, and so all it could do was fire that Blizzard off. Underwater though, it makes for a stranger sight, a deluge of freezing water that goes up as soon as its created. The attack reached 2 of the 5 Barboach, but it missed the key one, whom smirked...prolly. They got little mouths

Oh... We're underwater...

Jump out of the pool, and freeze it with Blizzard. There's nice concrete side areas, and the anime had you on land repeatedly. Then recover and relax.

Subs: If the pool did not freeze over or he managed to escape, hit him with Swift, then Ice Beam. If you couldn't get out fast enough, then Swift ~ Ice Beam ~ Ice Beam.

Use Bounce before the pool gets frozen, after you hit Staryu with it use Earthquake to break the ice, end with a Spark.

===Round 5===

Not liking the fact this water battle was taking longer than it should, Staryu was quick to make a beeline for shore. Barboach saw this, and noted the blue energy radiating from the starfish. That couldn't be good. So-Barboach swam down to the bottom of the pool, and hit the ground...hard.

Staryu few out of the water, spinning at a high speed. Reaching the bank, it turned, and blasted the lake with a fullout Blizzard. In no time at all, the lake surface began to chill and freeze. Before the pool was fully encased however, Barboach burst out of the now chilled water, having successfully Bounced out. Staryu cursed his luck and watched the little maniacal wormfish rocket skyward.

Staryu stared as Barboach began its descent. Waiting patiently , the smaller aquatic animal lined up its shot, and subsequently fired a barrage of ninja stars of its own. Barboach twisted to avoid them on their first pass and curled her bod into a ball to heighten her speed. She hit Staryu like a meteor, only to be tagged in the back by those never missing Swift stars.

Barboach unfurled painfully and looked left and right, only to be tagged by a Ice Beam from...somewhere. She flew a good ways onto the ice, and skidded to a slushy stop.

Staryu had ran backwards on two legs and fired that beam, man that's funny looking. Miffed that his target was damned hard to hit, Barboach flailed about again. She did it on the ice though, so the Earthquake tremor radiated though the fresh pool top. The ice splintered and shattered, now giving Barboach something to float atop.

Staryu didn't feel the tremor so much-being far away from Barboach now. A familiar tingling feeling took Staryu's attention, and it looked up, to see a second ball of energy screech down toward it. Why can't THAT THING MISS!

Staryu looked up...and saw a crater right next to it.
It...did miss!

Barboach hissed, that wasn't supposed to happen! (8)

===Round 6===

Barboach stayed on his ice floe and said to to hell with it all and took a nap. However, his energy was low, so his ability to Rest efficiently was severely hampered. Staryu didn't like that persay, and flew back over the water.

As Barboach healed up...a second helping of Toxic was dumped on it. Man no breaks.

Well, this fist was sleeping now. Why not it. And so, instead of beating this fish to a pulp, Staryu lied down and took a small siesta of its own. Barboach however, whisked itself over to Staryu.....and Sparked all over the place.

With everyone asleep, this battle becomes a Sleep talk fiesta! Both Pokemon go about their business it seems. Staryu fires off a jagged part of its Gem, smashing Barboach back. Barboach retaliates with a Mud-slap, which flies over Staryu. Huh.

Both these sleeping combatants seemed to be energy weary. Staryu didn't even move. However...Barboach-unprovoked...woke up! Seeing the still Staryu, she took advantage and smashed him. It hit for once, and Staryu flinched in its sleep. Man I can never tell if its up though, it has no eyes!

Wait no, its up! Its up! Its jumped up on its own...but sits back down.

Unable to attack Staryu just hoped its skill at evading were up to par. They worked once more in its favor as Barboach zipped past. Barboach turned around to look at it, and hissed. No more missing!

Barboach turned around and Staryu felt confident in a miss. Not so this time, as its body spazzed out from the pain of electricity. Maybe...it should get up and do something!

Barboach and Staryu both shrugged and well, no Barboach stayed still, but Staryu commanded a huge blast of water to fall on the resting fish. It swam with the wave and coasted around the lake a bit, swimming around the icebergs that now existed.

Ok, they both have more life, and yet... the variety in attacks is astounding! I sense an Earthquake coming...and I sense a Surf coming. OH MY GOD, I was correct sir! Both attacks seem to strike, and Barboach swims along, and Staryu stays on the land. Odd really.

Staryu just sits there quietly, as another Earthquake rattles its senses. That's really all there is so say about that, you can't really relax while an Earthquake occurs.

Barboach now pokes out from teh ice field and starts to Spark up. Knowing full well what this means, Staryu tries to shut down that fish by forcing a Surf right atop of it. Barboach however... is a bit faster than Staryu gave her credit for and succeeds in actually ramming into the echidnoderm seconds before the wave dragged her under again. Guess she ran outta energy again.

Staryu curses that fishes' luck, How the heck can it always hit!

Barboach pokes her head out the water, and is suddenly slammed by a salty, harsh tasting water that makes her retreat. Staryu quits shooting off the Brine, and goes back to waiting.

On cue, the ground flips and shakes, forcing Staryu to not relax. Damn Earthquakes!! Can't avoid the whole earth now!

Both Pokemon are breathing ridiculously hard. Staryu runs over and fires off a second Briny pulse just as Barboach finished completing a lively set of clones! Staryu looks peeved, the Brine missed!

The three Barboachs left all snicker, they got him now!

Staryu doesn't need this and lies down, but is struck while lying down! Barboach swam over with her posse and gave it a nice ol Spark! Staryu thought of firing again but no, it could relax that off.

Staruyu stood back up, watching as Barboach began to wriggle. It knew what that meant and made sure to fire a strong Brine. Barboach and another clone were struck, and the fish floated back, pained by that salty strike. But Staryu was rattled about as well.
