Get a pop-up blocker (or Firefox). It's the best solution to avoid these buggers.
EDIT: Also scan your computer for viruses of any kind. And get Spybot and a better pop-up blocker. A solid firewall will also help.
I don't know if it's only me or my computer but has anyone been randomly browsing the boards and having their homepage changed to "http://default-homepage-network.com/start.cgi?=hkcu" or something?
This should bring you to a site where it tries to pop up a porn popup window (I have popups blocked so it didn't do it to me) and then pops up a second window, warning you that if your CD drive opens you need to desperately clear your computer of spyware.
I later found out that this was simply a code to send a message to the interface to open your CD drive- pretty lowly tricksters if you ask me.
Oh and note that this only affects Internet Explorer users.
I seemed to have made it give up by using SpywareGuard/Blaster, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has been getting this constant adware on this site or if it's just another program

Just to note, another member posted a thread in the Misc. forum asking what could be done about it. He also said that the pop-ups @TPM were causing his browser's homepage to change. Suzie said there's no way that they can be removed from the board so unfortunately a blocker is the best way to try and prevent it from happening from now on =/

proxomitron when used in conjunction with firefox is excellent.
Yes, I know, other people have told me about Proxomitron but when I installed it, all it did was mess up the buttons on installers and such (if it said "OK" and "Cancel" on a button/tab the text wouldn't be there)
SpywareGuard has been pretty much keeping me safe as it tells me if spyware is about to be installed on my computer so it's fine.
There's no permanent fix for it yet, unfortunately.
