The NPD Group Australia recently released its top ten sales chart for all video game formats over the first half of 2011. As reported by Leigh Harris of MCV, Pokémon White and Pokémon Black were second and third, respectively, in number of units sold in Australia, beating such titles as L.A. Noire (fourth), Wii Fit Plus (eighth), and The Sims 3 (ninth).
The Pokémon titles, released March 10 in Australia, were bested over the past six months only by Call of Duty: Black Ops, released worldwide in November 2010. Half of the top ten titles were released for three or more platforms, with only the Pokémon games (Nintendo DS), Wii Fit Plus (Wii), and Killzone 3 (PlayStation 3) exclusive to a single system.
According to MCV, the top ten titles and their respective publishers are as follows:
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision Blizzard)
2. Pokémon White (Nintendo)
3. Pokémon Black (Nintendo)
4. LA Noire (Rockstar Games)
5. Crysis 2 (Electronic Arts)
6. AFL Live (TruBlu)
7. Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars (LucasArts)
8. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)
9. The Sims 3 (Electronic Arts)
10. Killzone 3 (Sony)
