Iiit’s battle time! Ladies and gents, welcome to the bumfuck middle of nowhere. Here, as the moon watches over us, two of ASB’s most esteemed battlers step up to the plate to engage in fisticuffs as they have so many times before. MLG stands side-by-side with his signature Sneasel, Loki Black, while RL calls upon a Pawniard who also happens to be… a Spaniard? Inconceivable!

Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Okay, shaddup. Let the battle commence!

The match begins on a surprising note as Loki Black darts left, darts right, and then Fakes his opponent Out by smacking him on the snout! Though Inigo Montoya resists the attack, it nonetheless leaves him startled. Whoozawut?

Without missing a beat, Loki Black keeps up the heat (inasmuch as an Ice-type can keep up any heat at all) and punches Inigo Montoya right in the head! Helmeted though he may be, the Spaniard still takes a bucketload of damage from that hit. As his world begins to go topsy-turvy, he keeps his shit together just enough to put his breakdancing skills to the test. He drops to the floor and makes a wide sweep with an extended leg, tripping Loki Black up and sending the trickster crashing to the ground.

No longer dancing, Loki Black lets it show that he still has some rhythm left in him by clapping his hands together. With that, a cold snap comes over the match as hailstones the size of pingpong balls begin falling, plinking off of Inigo Montoya’s armour noisily. The Pawniard, irked by the Hail and his Confusion and that douchebag six-fingered man, tears into that pesky Sneasel with a series of blunt physical blows. When he finishes, he lets out a placated sigh. That felt goo-ood.

Inigo Montoya: <-7 EP; Cfn no more>

Deciding to renew his sparring partner’s bout of Confusion, Loki Black leaps forward to issue another punch. At the last second, Inigo Montoya whips out his trusty rapier and magically imbues it with a little bit of health. Loki Black’s punch collides with the sword, causing it to snap in two… which is sad, but it’s infinitely better than, you know, Inigo himself snapping in two, right?

Loki Black raises his little arms skyward. Suddenly, sheets of snow and ice blow in off the mountain and dump themselves over the battle. Inigo, who resists the attack, manages to repel a good deal of the white stuff through a series of rapid twirls.

As the match progresses, Inigo closes his eyes and begins to concentrate on raising his defensive prowess. His armour begins to glow silver, but a spectral hand materializes and grasps at him with a Snatching moment. The apparition deals no physical harm to Inigo, but his armour certainly doesn’t feel any stronger. Loki, on the other hand, is looking awfully sturdy all of a sudden.

Poor Inigo. The little Spaniard just can’t catch a break, eh? Hoping to reverse his fortunes, he tears toward Loki to deal a little Metal Claw damage. The Sneasel tries to repel him with a Surf, but it takes a bit of time to melt all that snow and ice into water. Loki Black is hit in the gut with Inigo’s powerful claws. Moments later, the melted snow accumulates into a big ol’ blob of water that throws Inigo backwards.

Loki Black: <-10 HP; -8 EP>
Inigo Montoya: <-10 HP; -3 EP>

Loki does a little twirl, summoning another Blizzard just as Inigo brings a barrage of rocks crashing down upon the villainous mammal. As snow and ice begins to pelt Inigo again, the wet ground surrounding him begins to freeze. His feet also freeze to the ice. Inigo scratches his head. Well, this is a bind.

Turning that fist into an open plam, Loki Black brings it careening forth at Inigo’s stomach. The attack makes contact, causing Inigo to double over. Seeking vengeance, Inigo straightens himself and begins rubbing his two hand blades together violently. The shrill noise they create causes Loki Black to clap his hands over his ears and grimace, severely Tormented by that noise.

Loki tries to deal another Brick Break, but the memory of that noise is just too aggravating for him. He still has friggin’ goosebumps for cryin’ out loud, which is saying something considering he’s an Ice-type! With a spare opportunity available to him, Inigo comes up with a way to end the icy fix he now finds himself in. With one swift gesture, he hacks away at the ice keeping him stuck to the ground. It smashes, giving his lower body freedom to move once more. Whoo!

The fallen Pawniard is summoned back to his Pokeball and, with a burst of light, is promptly replaced with a smoke-spewing tortoise. Unintimidated even by a Fire-type, Loki marches up right up Crowley and catches her in the face with those wicked talons of his. He begins to exert pressure, squeezing hard on Crowley’s skull. Friggin' Attack boost! The attack almost brings Crowley's defences down, but her White Smoke keeps her stats a-okay. The Torkoal promptly brings the assault to an end with a swell of orange flames. Loki leaps back, his hand badly burnt.

Loki Black: <-17 HP; -6 EP; Brn>
Crowley: <-12 HP; -8 EP>

With his dominant hand burnt, Loki has to switch to his weak hand as he delivers a DynamicPunch. The attack doesn’t deal as much damage as it perhaps could have but still manages to induce confusion. However, this doesn’t stop the Torkoal from retaliating with another powerful Flamethrower. Poor Loki isn’t enjoying the heat.

Crowley: <-10 HP; -8 EP; Cfn>

Again using his weak hand, Loki deals another Crush Claw, this one doing almost as much damage as the first. Crowley, again bypassing Confusion, concentrates and begins to focus on raising his offensive prowess. Her temperature rises and her muscles begin to bulge, causing her shell to strain and crack in places. Though her defenses are running low, the Torkoal is officially roided out. Never has Crowley looked so ready and willing to roast some weasel for dinner.

Ever the speedy little trickster, Loki zips toward Crowley with his claws poised to harm. The Sneasel combines a speedy approach with a series of random physical blows that leave Crowley in quite a daze, especially given the fact that her Defenses aren’t looking so good at the moment. Letting out a tortoise-y roar (whatever that might sound like), Crowley with her own array of aggravated strikes. Just… die… already! Finally, the Sneasel complies: after one hell of a battle, the indomitable fighter finally falls.

Having worked out all his Frustrations, Crowley manages to calm her anger and put her mind at ease. Consequentially, her Confusion melts away.

A red flash illuminates the night’s darkness as a long-tongued chameleon enters the fray, peering around quizically. Without warning, Chris snaps into action and catches Crowley off-guard with a deceptively fast Fake Out. Crowley blinks, dazed. This newbie is good!

Chris’s tail begins to blossom with cold spurts of water as the Kecleon starts smacking Crowley silly with the aquatic appendage. Bellowing, Crowley delivers a tail-ish strike of her own… despite the fact that her tail is little more than a nub. Still, she puts that nub to good use: it glows silver and she flogs Chris with it to the best of her ability. Whoo! Tail wars!

After sustaining the hit, Chris’s body begins to glow silver. Hrm?

Crowley: <-16 HP; -8 EP>

Opening his mouth, Chris Xeroxx promptly blasts Crowley with a brown eruption of energy. After two super effective strikes in a row, Crowley resists the urge to hide in her shell and stay there until this bully of a Kecleon goes away. Instead, she plays the type card as well, breathing hot flames all over Chris’s steely body. As a result of the Flamethrower, the Kecleon slowly turns orange.

Look! Their types match! How cute.

RL’s third Pokemon takes to the field in a flash of crimson. A colourfully named Miltank plods into battle with a bright, easygoing smile on her face. However, that smile soon turns into a smirk as the cattlebeast starts spinning in circles, releasing fingers of water that dance around her. The water accumulates into a Whirlpool which charges toward Chris, trapping him in its vortex. Struggling against the spinning water, Chris spits out a crackling gout of flames that sizzle against the cow’s hide. Mmm, smells like Outback Steakhouse…

Chris Xeroxx: <-4 HP; -8 EP; Water; Trapped>
Frappiccino: <-14 HP; -4 EP>

As Chris continues to spin and spin and spin, Frappucino makes things interesting with an electric strike. The rapidly spiraling water conducts the electrical move and increases its damage output. Feeling a little queasy, Chris tries to fire off a beam of naturally occurring energy, but the dizziness is getting to him. The move fails to strike its target.

Frappuccino: <-3 EP>

Slamming a hoof against the ground, Frappuccino brings about a massive Earthquake. The momentum from quaking ground throws Chris clear out of the Whirlpool and, just as he becomes thankful for this little turn of events, his flying body collides hard with the ground. Shaking off the dizziness, Chris grows white and retaliates with a strike of blinding energy. Frappuccino takes the hit but maintains composure.

The cow and chameleon keep the tension high as Frappuccino shoots off a shimmering beam of pale blue energy. Taking the chilling assault in the gut, Chris’s scales begin to turn that same blue shade. Deciding to spread the joys of Colour Changing to his opponent, Chris forms a mental link with Frap and performs an ability swap. Frappuccino looks at her arms and legs. She doesn’t look any different… yet.

Frappuccino prepares to strike, but Chris catches her off-guard: a spectral hand leaps from his body and globbers the bovine in the gut. Suddenly, her skin turns from a pasty pink to a grim shade of grey. The cow lets out a confused moo at first but ultimately finds the dark tone nicely slimming. Spinning wildly, Moo throws herself into Chris. Even with the type advantage, the attack does next to no damage.

Frappuccino: <-8 HP; -1 EP; Dark>

Frappuccino deals a swift Fighting-type move, slamming her hoof into Chris’s face as though smash bricks. Staggering backward from that super effective strike, Chris shakes off the hefty bit of damage before deciding to deal a Fighting-type strike of his own. He fists Frappuccino right in the gut, causing health to leech into the chameleon’s body. Frappuccino turns a deep shade of scarlet.
