    ‡ Round 11 ‡

Hunching over and assuming a defensive stance, Seeth laces a smattering of poison with a wave of negative energy. Zofis, who is not at all properly prepared, takes the lightning-fast hit and is tossed backwards like a discarded pool noodle. Just like that, the Dratini is out of the game. Little blue squiggle worm, we hardly knew ye.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 12 ‡

Time for some new blood! Zofis is recalled to her Pokeball, leaving firepokemon to make one final selection. With the requisite flash of light, a lovely little butterfly takes to the field and greets Seeth with a smile... and, lookee here, a dance! Butterfree spins and dives in the air, raising a few of her parameters in one fell swoop. Rather enjoying this little display, Seeth breaks into applause... and then belches up a horrendous profusion of poisonous goo! Ahhh! Butterfree takes the megahit and is swiftly pinned to the stadium floor beneath the weight of all that icky gunk, which slowly leeches into his bloodstream.

Butterfree looks irate. I DANCE FOR YOU AND YOU VOMIT SHIT ALL OVER ME?! WTF, BRO?!

    Seeth: <-21 EP>
    Butterfree: <-42 HP; -6 EP; +1 SpA; +1 SpD; +1 Spd; Psn>

Having expended all of his available actions for the time being, Seeth kneels in waiting as Butterfree pulls himself up off the ground... which takes a fair bit of time, given the sheer amount of Croagunk vomit he has to rub off his wings. Ew. Eventually, Butterfree manages to get airborne yet again and does another dance. You can tell his heart isn't exactly in it this time, but he pulls off the move nonetheless.

    Seeth: <...>
    Butterfree: <-6 EP; +1 SpA; +1 SpD: +1 Spd>

Eager to exact a buttload of vengeance, Butterfree uses his new boosts and flaps his papery wings with as much gusto as he can manage. The resulting razorblade of air hits Seeth in the gut and causes him to double over. It robs him of quite a bit of health, but not quiiite enough to put him out of commission just yet.

    Seeth: <-16 HP>
    Butterfree: <-6 EP>

Butterfree's stomach churns <-3 HP>... not that it really matters, 'cause this Bug hit the damage cap a while ago.

    ‡ Round 13 ‡

Though Seeth has reached the end of his rope, he's still not backing down. Once again, the Croagunk hunkers down defensively and waits for Butterfree's next attack... which doesn't come, because the Bug has decided to resume preparing for his inevitable SYTYCD audition. Thus, Butterfree is entirely vulnerable to Seeth's next strike: the poisonous fighting frog coughs out a smattering of goo that strikes Butterfree and begins to react with his existing status condition. Urk.

    Seeth: <-12 EP; -1 HP fatigue; Endured>
    Butterfree: <-32 HP; -6 EP; +1 SpA; +1 SpD; +1 Spd>

Butterfree extends his proboscis and sucks the last of Seeth's health away. After a formidable fight, the froggie finally falls.

    Seeth: <-1 HP>
    Butterfree: <+1 HP; -6 EP>

Butterfree takes some Poison damage, but not a whole lot <-2 HP>.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 14 ‡

Mr. Madister sends his final Pokemon out to play. Red light fills the stadium as a spindly jar-bird flutters into battle and stares at Butterfree ominously. Undaunted by this newcomer, Butterfree Roosts on the ground and begins to regain health she had previously lost. Meanwhile, Dreamcatcher goes into a catatonic state that works wonders for her parameters. Spacing out always pays off.

    Dreamcatcher: <-4 EP; +1 SpA; +1 SpD>
    Butterfree: <+15 HP; -13 EP>

Butterfree flaps his wings hard enough to cast a crackling black sphere across the pitch. A pink barrier folds itself around Dreamcatcher and the Shadow Ball bursts against it, nullified.

    Dreamcatcher: <-8 EP>
    Butterfree: <-6 EP>

Butterfree rises up off the ground now and begins buzzing irritably, annoyed to have a perfectly good Shadow Ball go waste. The sheer sonic power given off by the attack gives Dreamcatcher one heck of a headache; nonetheless, he pulls it together long enough to cast a humming beam of brown light across the field. It hits Butterfree and does solid damage. The Bug begins to sweat; things aren't turning around fast enough for his liking.

    Dreamcatcher: <-13 HP; -4 EP>
    Butterfree: <-10 HP; -7 EP>

Butterfree loses more health from the Poison <-3 HP>.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 15 ‡

Our battle continues as Butterfree flings another Shadow Ball at Dreamcatcher, catching her in the wing and sending it into a tailspin. Fortunately, the Sigilyph saves the landing and takes the opportunity to meditatively reflect one what she needs to win. Oh, now she knows... she needs stat boosts!

    Dreamcatcher: <-14 HP; -4 EP; +1 SpA; +1 SpD>
    Butterfree: <-6 EP>

Butterfree keeps up the Shadow Balls and scores yet another hit. This time, Dreamcatcher's hard-earned Special Defence stat takes a bit of a drop, but no fear. She still has more than enough fortitude to see this through to the end and demonstrates her mettle with another AncientPower. The Rock-type tosses pins Butterfree to the ground, doing more damage than it did last time.

    Dreamcatcher: <-13 HP; -4 EP; -1 SpD>
    Butterfree: <-11 HP; -6 EP>

Once again, the battlers exchange a Shadow Ball for an AncientPower. Shenanigans!

    Dreamcatcher: <-14 HP; -4 EP>
    Butterfree: <-11 HP; -6 EP>

Butterfree's health is so close to depletion and the Poison only brings it closer <-3 HP>.

    ‡ Round 16 ‡

Butterfree's antennae begin to emit a strange radio signal before firing off dual beams of red and green light. The ensuing blast leaves Dreamcatcher with a bit of a headache, but not a strong enough one to induce Confusion. The Sigilyph then tries to come up with the most cutthroat, humiliating insult she can devise... but her attempt bears no fruit. Wah-wah. This is what you get for not finishing your opponent off when you had the chance.

    Dreamcatcher: <-12 HP>
    Butterfree: <-6 EP>

Butterfree once again perches and regains lost health. Dreamcatcher, furious that she let a clear opportunity slip out of her grasp, fires off another AncientPower. It hits but doesn't do as much damage as Butterfree just regained.

    Dreamcatcher: <-4 EP>
    Butterfree: <+15 HP; -11 HP; -13 EP>

Once again, the battlers exchange a Shadow Ball Roost for an AncientPower. Shenanigans!

    Dreamcatcher: <-4 EP>
    Butterfree: <+15 HP; -11 HP; -7 EP; -3 HP fatigue>

More Poisony fun for Butterfree <-3 HP>. Sooo... this battle really should have been over by now, mirite?

    ‡ Round 17 ‡

After a valiant fight, Butterfree knows he's reached the end of his road. Deciding to end things on his own terms, he charges up a powerful blast of energy and releases it in one fell swoop. Unfortunately, the fatigue he incurs from such an attack knocks him clear out of the battle. Bye bye, Butterfree! With that, we're left with only one. Dreamcatcher is the victor!

    Dreamcatcher: <-17 HP>
    Butterfree: <-6 HP fatigue>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

And that's that! Congratulations to Mr. Madister who receives six points for winning. I also receive six while firepokemon takes home three. Good work.

    Cheers!
